Operational Readiness & Assurance

The objective of Operations Readiness is to ensure that the facilities (be it green field, new facilities or brown field, modifications to existing facilities) are designed and built to agreed standards, operated and maintained within optimum workforce levels, utilise appropriate Smart technologies, are started-up faultlessly and meet the Project objectives and benefits. In addition, it provides assurance that the future Asset operator is fully prepared to receive, operate and maintain the facilities. These 3 project guides also describe the required interaction between the Project Team and the future Asset operator. Early onboarding of key Operations Readiness project personnel is important to support the Project Director for a faultless project delivery.

The “Operations Readiness” is comprised of three pillars which can be described as follows:

Operations Readiness: Part 1 – Guide

This pillar focuses on the readiness of the Asset Owner Organisation and represents the Operations involvement in the project from Identify/Assess up to and including the initial Operate Phase. It covers e.g., the development of the Management Systems, Operations & Maintenance philosophy, Reference Plans, Operations input to design, designing and setting up a competent permanent organisation, Maintenance Integrity & Reliability Management.

CSU Readiness: Part 2 – Guide

This pillar focuses on the readiness of the commissioning and start-up (CSU) organisation. The preparation includes early identification of the project CSU Team leader, the creation of a competent CSU organisation, the development of a system-based CSU logic & schedule and preparation for the Project to Asset Transfer.

Faultless Project Delivery: Part 3 – Guide

The project shall be delivered to the owner in a way that the commissioning and start-up will be a smooth process. Basically; build it safe, build it clean, build it right and fully functional, first time. Faultless Project Delivery (FPD) is the vehicle to make this happen with continuous improvement and appropriate assurance activities. An FPD organisation has to be set up to implement the FPD activities.

Operations Readiness & Assurance – workshop

In addition to building capability through the application of the Operational Readiness Framework guides, we can also provide (RFSU) ready for start up assurance workshops & access to Project Consultancy, which is recommended at least 6 months before start-up. The Operational Readiness Framework is an essential and integral element of our overall Project Management Delivery Framework.
